Organizational History

Magdalena House was established in 2007 to serve low-income, San Antonio area women and children escaping abusive and dangerous situations by providing them hope and enabling them to transform their lives. Magdalena House was founded under the auspices of the University United Methodist Church. Having successfully completed its start-up period, Magdalena House is now separated from its founding church and has received its nonprofit certification from the State of Texas on August 21, 2008, as well as its IRS 501(c)3 designation on July 13, 2009.
