To be eligible to reside at Magdalena House, a woman must be in a dangerous situation, be age 17 or older and have no more than two children under the age of 8. Each woman must express and demonstrate the commitment to make the changes in her life that are necessary to leave her abusive situation and become self-reliant. She must also demonstrate the desire and ability to enroll in educational or vocational training and participate in the totality of MH programming. Those eligible for public support services must apply for them, including Food Stamps, WIC, childcare services, TANF and Medicaid. Mothers must also pursue child support from the father of their children when practical to do so.
